Natural sculptures in the sunshine

Category : School Blog

It was another beautiful sunny day today. We started the day with some Jump Start Johnny. We requested our favourite song ‘Freeze’ and managed to balance on one leg in different poses. Then we did our Maths and English work set by our teachers.

After lunch, we couldn’t wait to get outside to enjoy the sunshine. We looked at the work of Andy Goldsworthy and planned how we were going to do our own natural sculptures. We had to collect lots of different materials like twigs, stones, grass and leaves. We have made a snowflake fairy wand, trees, monsters, rabbits, fox dens and a flower garden. Can you spot them in the pictures? What natural sculpture would you make?

We hope you are all well.

Fun Friday with Miss Ford

Category : School Blog

Today we started the day with some Jumpstart Johnny. We each chose a song to get us moving! We then watered the plants and tidied the garden. Since it was a lovely, sunny day we went outside. We completed an obstacle course, played with the Bee-Bots and played a ball game together.

After that, we discussed the story of Pentecost and created some Pentecost headbands in preparation for the celebration on Sunday. We spent our lunchtime outside enjoying the warm weather before watching ‘101 Dalmatians’ to cool down a bit. Just before home time we spent some time playing Kahoot.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe!

A day in he sunshine with Mrs Barr and Mrs Doyle

We have had a lovely day in preparation for the feast of Pentecost. We started our morning with some mindfulness colouring then did some exercise with ‘Just Dance’. We then made some Pentecost mobiles to turn in the wind.

We spend some time on the iPad creating creatures on ‘Switch Zoo’ and played games.

After lunch we played outside; charades, shooting hoops, searching for minibeasts and then telling stories to each other.

It has been a wonderful day

Nature spotting with Mrs Bell and Mrs Stelling

Today we started off with our Joe Wickes workout—there were lots of jumps, climbing and running on the spot, we really worked hard.

We did some nature watching on the field this morning and were lucky enough to see some squirrels climbing the trees and jumping from branch to branch.

Key stage 1 worked on their phonics and then designed and made their own paper planes which they flew outside. They flew really far.

Key stage 2 created some hand illusion art, it created some really striking hands which seemed to jump out of the sheet.

Some of us continued with our weaving, whilst others made dotted pictures using paint and buds.

What have you been doing today?

We miss you.

Dancing with Miss Choppin and Mrs Doyle

Category : School Blog

We started the day by doing some dancing. We all got to choose our favourite song on Just Dance. Our favourite was Ghost Busters. After that, we went outside to play some games. We played with the ball catcher and kept a tally of our scores. We also played football and did some races.

After that we made Elmer elephants out of milk bottles. We used lots of different coloured tissue paper and stuck it to the bottle. We made some ears, eyes and a tail to stick on. They look great.

As it is the half term holidays, we finished the day with a treat and watched a film. What have you been doing today?

Science with Mrs Barr and Mrs Lumsden

Today we began by exercising with Joe Wicks and then did our work set for us online. During the morning we celebrated Ascension with collective worship and then a little colouring.

After lunch we went outside and played, racing each other on a pair of obstacle courses and practising individual ball skills.

In the afternoon we explored magnets and gravity with two science investigations. We drew faces on paper and stuck inside Petri dishes then we used a magnet and moved iron filings around to make hair and moustaches – it was quite funny.

Then we coloured clowns and butterflies and tried to balance them upright, on the ends of pencils and the edge of the table – they didn’t balance, then we added two pennies which changed their position of their centre of gravity and then tried balancing them again. This time they did balance. Do you know why? Arts and crafts with Mrs Bell and Miss Stelling

A beautiful sunny day at school. In the first lesson, Key Stage 2 learnt about how and why beavers make dams and we discovered that they are accomplished engineers. Once this was completed, we went into the hall to do the Joe Wickes workout, it was lots of fun and hard work.
Key Stage 1 pupils were reinforcing their sounds and then they wrote about a lion in a wheelbarrow.

After break time we worked on our maths, some of us were discovering perimeters, others were carrying out division, addition, subtraction and multiplication.

This afternoon, Key Stage 2 continued with their weaving and were working towards finger knitting.
Key Stage 1 were creating sponge washed skies and then using natural foliage from the field to create trees.

Another very creative day, what have you been doing?

Take care

Outdoor fun with Miss Choppin

Category : School Blog

Today we started our day with some exercise. Reception and Key Stage One had fun dancing with Jump Start Johnny. Our favourite one was called ‘Freeze’, we loved it as the music stopped at different parts and we had to do a funny pose! Key Stage 2 joined Joe Wicks for a workout.

We then did the work from the website which is set by our teachers. We worked hard and produced some lovely work.

On the afternoon we enjoyed some time outside. We played with footballs, hula hoops and the bat and balls. We then did some outdoor art. We looked at some pictures for inspiration then set off on the hunt for natural materials. Once we had collected all of our materials we spent time making different shapes to create different objects, people and animals.

The children created fish, robots, people and trains. Can you spot them in the pictures?

Have you been doing any outdoor art?

Vincent Van Gogh with Miss White and Mrs Allick

Category : School Blog

Our morning began with some exercise with Joe Wicks, we are getting really good at this and it is keeping us fit and healthy. Miss White and Mrs Allick joined in too.

After that we completed our English and Maths work, in English we learned about Trolls and what stories we would find them in, as well as where they originated. We also created our own.

This afternoon we found out lots of information about Vincent Van Gogh and looked at his masterpieces of the Sunflowers and Starry Night.

We then decided to recreate our own version of ‘Starry Night.’ What do you think?
Miss White and Mrs Allick were very impressed with our work.

Friday with Miss Ford and Mr Raper

We started our day with a Joe Wicks workout in the hall and he was dressed up as Harry Potter! We then completed some Maths and English work set by our teachers on the website. We also coloured in some butterflies to go on a wall in a hospital and wrote about our parents who do an amazing job as key workers.

In the afternoon, we created some stained glass hands, which joined together to say ‘Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand’. We also took some time to reflect and pray for those who need it.

After that, we did a science hunt looking at different objects and materials we could find as well as different shapes!

We hope you have a safe weekend. Take care.
